If you had ever seen a cautious cat stand back and observe, or check out a new person, it wouldn't be too hard to imagine just how Gabriel was checking her out. It wasn't so much that he was up close and in her face.. more like he was sort of.. leaning that way. A few deep breaths and he tilted slightly to one side, almost curly wavy dark blond hair slipping from his shoulder and just plain hanging as he looked her over, before the rest of him caught up and slowly looked around the back. Curious cougar was curious. His expression very much close to where it had been while playing with Ching-in-a-box; he straightened again and offered another smile, along with his hand as greeting... having finally picked up a bit on which 'Rs' were 'Ls'. " I didn't really.. I'm just the first mate luv. But, a pleasure. " as in to meet you, and he looked to her brother. " Captain is a bit sore about havin' turned around, but as I understand it, your brother's worked out a small deal for that favor.. which means free meals and board: if you can stand the sea. "

Ching giggled in that odd pitched panda way, clearly glad just to have Ling back. He gave a mild glare to Gabriel, remembering the look that had freaked him out in their first meet. The panda looked sheepishly to Ling and nodded. It was such an embarrassment to have been caught, but ...Free food and board at least? As long as non of those pirates touched Ling in any way everything would stay nice and intact.
He was noticeably much more calmer now, and the glare didn't really hold any power behind it.

Ling stared absently between the two, trying to decipher what Gabriel was on about before looking to her brother to see if she was hearing this all correctly. "So... Ching make you come a'rr the way back just for me? But then we have to work for you? 'Cept we get food too." She closed one eye, jutting out her bottom lip as she thought about it. "Ching sure know the right time to mess up. Food we not have to stea'r, it good enough reason for me." She nodded, grinning wide with her hands on her hips.

Gabriel seemed increasingly pleased with her the more he heard; his ears perking up and forward a bit as he smiled, his eyes nearly closing as the expression spread across his features. He ignored the glare from Ching: not to be rude but rather just because he took it for what it was, a brother's protective streak. A slow but bog nod nearly moved his shoulders as well, the long blond waves parting from them for a moment and offering a hand turned towards the plank of the ship as a motion for them to follow before he started that way. " I'm sure the Captain'll be very pleased to hear that. He rather likes your brother already I think, though he's an odd way of showin' it. He's hopes to teach him more english as well I think. " His brighter golden eyes turned back through the mild haze of tawny gold hair with his smile. " And the big fish definitely likes him. Can't have a better choice of friends on board, 'ceptin' the Bowman maybe.... have either of ye worked aboard a Naga boat before? "

Ching grinned sheepishly, nodding a bit and looking down in mild embarrassment with Lings words... At least she was pleased, which made him pleased. The only thing that wasn't making him happy was the worry that Ling might get to friendly with someone else, or visa verse. The same could be said with him, but his sister meant way more.
The panda boy looked up at the cat and shook his head, they hadn't worked on a ship let alone some pirate ship filled with half snake men.

"Yo' want teach Ching more engrish?" Ling repeated, biting at her bottom lip. "Maybe if you want him 'rearn to read and wright it, but... Brother hard'ry ever talk. When he need say something, I say it for him." she explained, grabbing Chings hand in both of hers and casting a sideways glance back towards the ship. Ling knew there was nothing left for her or her brother in this town, but at the same time, she was still hesitant, maybe it was just so sudden, or maybe it was the creepy looking half-snake-people slithering about on the deck. But she had her brother, and that's all the reassurance she needed. "There nothing at home we need, right Ching?" she asked, tail wagging at top speed.
